Rudolphs Pediatrics stands as not only the longest continuously published text in pediatric care but also among the most respected. Descended from Holts Diseases of Infancy and Childhood (1897), Rudolphs Pediatrics has developed and maintained a strong legacy of providing comprehensive, detailed information in a logical, reader-friendly manner. Always written by leading authorities, the book balances clinical features and treatment of disease with the biologic principles underlying these processes, offering the pediatrician a depth of understanding not available in competing texts. The 22nd edition improves on previous texts in critical ways, both physical and content related. This is the first edition to offer a four-color design, making it the most attractive and easy-to-use volume yet. The organization has been greatly revised to enhance the readers everyday use of the book. Twenty-seven chapters have turned into thirty sections, consisting of almost 600 clearly defined chapters. Each chapter has been carefully edited to minimize redundancy and overlap. This new attention to repetitive material has resulted in tightly written, to-the-point chapters. The content has similarly been overhauled to keep pace with the latest developments and emerging areas of pediatric study. New sections have been created for the Fundamentals of Pediatrics, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Nutrition, and Abuse, Neglect and Violence. Similarly expanded attention is given to the areas of infectious disease, immunologic disorders, allergic disorders, neoplastic disorders, the cardiovascular system, and urinary concerns. The popular patient-management algorithms continue to be an important part of the text and are supplemented by an expanded use of tables and lists to help summarize key diagnostic and therapeutic information for quick reference. Clinical management of the patient is emphasized throughout all chapters to help make this the most practical Rudolphs to date.
